Power Monocular
How Much magnifying power is 7x18 speaking in terms of binoculars?
I don't really understand what it's supposed to mean. I just bought a really cheap little monocular on ebay to have some fun stargazing, but I'd like to actually be able to tell people exactly how powerful this things is, so I don't look like I'm posing as some amazing, knowlwdgeable, expensively equipped enthusiast/self professed guru with some hunk of cheap plastic. Cause I know it was really cheap, and I like it that way!!
So maybe you could explain, by how many times does this 7x18 monocular expand my vision?
2? 5? 7? No idea.
typo: knowledgeable.
oh come on... don't be shy.
Do they mean 7x18= 126?
Why doesn't it just say 126 on it then? bah!
This website doesn't explain it at all.

What's the deal? How do you tell how much it magnifies something by?
That means your binoculars magnify 7 time's and the objective lens of the binocular is 18 millimeters across. A 126 power binocular would be useless because it would be so powerful that you could not use them in any sort of practical sense. The bigger the objective lens the more light is gathered, the more light you gather the more power you can use. Good binoculars should have a objective lens of at least 35 millimeters. That would look like this: 7x35. Seven power by 35 millimeters objective lens.
